There’s another option for area residents looking for flights to Denver. The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport announced Monday United Airlines is adding a second set of arrival and departure flights between PIA and Colorado’s capital city.

The original flight to Denver leaves Peoria early in the morning and those traveling back from the destination arrive in Peoria late at night. Airport Director Gene Olson says the additional flight adds some flexibility for travelers.

"What this does is it puts another turn in the middle of the day which really gives westbound people another shot at completing a trip in a day. It also more importantly gives people returning from the west coast two shots at going through Denver rather than just one," says Olson.

Olson says flights to and from Denver perform well out of the Peoria airport. United Airlines officials say the company has seen a significant increase in customer demand for Denver flights. The additional flights out of the Peoria airport begin June 7^th.
