The District 150 School Board approved Dave Kinney as interim Comptroller/Treasurer during a special meeting. WCBU’s Alex Rusciano reports: Kinney retired from Illinois Valley Central School District 321 as Superintendent last June. He replaces Pam Schau who was fired without cause last week by the School Board. Kinney says Regional Office of Education Superintendent Gerald Brookhart recommended him to District 150 last week. Kinney says his first priority is to finalize the tentative 2010-2011 school budget by Friday so the full School Board can review it at their meeting next week:
KINNEY: We’re going to identify every revenue that we can so we know exactly what we can spend and make sure those expenditures match those revenues. There are a lot of uncertainties but we know what they are and we’re going to do out best to make sure we work through those and look for alternative ways to fund what we need to fund.
Kinney says the budget must be on public display for 30 days and be filed with the State Board of Education by September 30th. His contract calls for getting 450-dollars a day for 120 work days or until a new Comptroller/Treasurer is hired. I’m Alex Rusciano, WCBU News.
